My "missing Texas" bucket list...

 Top 10 list.

Me (in no particular order):

1. Mexican food.  Every. day.  A Margarita will be drunk with every appetizer or full sized meal purchased. (appetizer *and* full meal = 2 margarita's) Jarin, I'm lookin' at you here, let's get started.
2. The Texas coast. Unique in every way to any other coast you've ever been to. (unless, of course, you've *been) to the Texas coast and then it's just as unique, as...itself.)
3. New boots - ok, ok, this isn't a place...it's a thing... but boot stores are fun places, and I would like to go to one...and get new boots... please? Maybe Cabela's. If you've ever been to Cabela's you'll know it's an experience in and of itself. (Cabela's is all the best about Texas and none of the bad ;) )
4. A baseball game. Triple A or Professional, either will do.
5. Enchanted Rock, and actually hike to the top, not just drive to the entrance gates and turn around. Combined with a night spent at my parent's barn/house right next door.
6. Dallas to visit friends from college, visit my sister and her family, and visit my Godmother. It's actually just time for me to do this but now I have a great reason!
7. The San Antonio Zoo. A great zoo, and only 1.5 hours away and just down the road from my brother and his family! 2 birds, 1 stone, must be done.
8. Go fishing.
9. Make s'more's around a campfire under the Texas sky. The skies really are bigger in Texas (they really really are)!
10. Canoeing on Town Lake with the kids.

I would settle for the family visits and the coast... and of course new boots to wear at the same time....and we all have to eat food, why shouldn't it be Mexican in flavor?

Any other suggestions? What would you just *have* to do if you were leaving the country for a while (it can include things outside of Texas, but really, if you're leaving the U.S. and you're not already *in* Texas, then shouldn't "visiting Texas" be on your list)?

 Am I missing something big?

Lay it on me.

    1. I am a BAD TEXAN for not having that on my list. You are so right!!! OK, so new schedule includes breakfast tacos for breakfast, a bar-b-que lunch, and then a combination of the two for dinner. Sounds good. Of course now all I want is bar-b-que... no time like the present!

  2. I would have to fit in a night drive, alone, DP in hand, and some good music. With an open sunroof if at all possible. Soak up those stars, girl.

    1. I've seen stars in Poland... yes, I'm pretty sure they are there.

I agree with the DQ Blizzard... or better yet, a Frostee Freeze M&M Twister.... mmmm. I've had some pretty good mom & pop icecream in Poland... If you ever make it out to Nowy Sacz (not so far from Krakow), try this place:

    2. I *know* they have stars in Poland...but it's not the same! :)

I want to live in Nowy Sacz. I think it's beautiful there. It would be my second favorite place to live next to a little mountain village. Krakow is my 3rd choice. ;)

    1. YES!!! Vanilla with M&M's. This will be done, probably more than once. I am going to gain like 10 pounds before we leave...but it'll be worth it!

    2. That's exactly what I get! Justin always makes fun of me and says it's weird!! I strayed once to try the French Silk Pie...never again. Terrible.

  4. Tube on the Guadalupe or Pedernales River, Drink a Cherry-limeade, Consume a DQ M&M Blizzard.

Then go to the Elephant Room with Martin.

Oh and be sure to do this all in one day.

    1. Martin suggested tubing on the river as well. We haven't done that in years. But I don't know if we'll have the time to squeeze that in. The other things are doable... although the Cherry Limeade would def. be on *your* bucket list...I never really liked those.

  5. The missing part is always gonna be there. Now there are only ten things on your list, once you move there's gonna be lot more:)

Greetings from a Polish girl living in France:)

  6. You are so right. I have been warned about "Romanticizing" home once you are faced with all the unpleasantness of a new place that you just aren't used to. So, I will have to knock off quite a few things on our visits back home as well. ;)

  7. With new boots in Poland you will soon learn a new word - fleki. Metal fleki are awesome on cobblestone but they do a real number on your flooring.

If you make b-day cakes yourself, pack the grocery store food coloring. All I can buy here is professional baker's food coloring in enormous tubes.

Maybe a couple of months from now when you are (more or less) settled in we could get together somewhere?

    1. Food coloring...yeah I can probably squeeze that in somewhere, I dont use it often but when I do I just take it for granted that it's available. Also, canned clams? I wonder if they are easy to find there?

I would love to meet up, Chris! I think late August will be our best bet. I will keep in touch. Will you be back from America by then?

    2. Chris: As far as I remember you live in Wroclaw, right? There is absolutely no problem with buying food colorings here, in a reasonably sized bottles (ca. 15 mL) - of course in any-colour-you-like. Just try any well stocked small "sweets-only shop", maybe on Hala Targowa, not some super/hypermarket etc. Have no idea in which part of Wroclaw you live, but I can recommend a small sweets-shop in Hala Strzegomska (on Nowy Dwor, near the way to Airport) - they always have it.

    3. Olivia - We'll be back by then :) Let's keep in touch.

Anon - Are you serious!?! I've never been to Hala Strzegomska but I know where it is. My neighbor bought her food coloring from Allegro and the tubes were huge. I will check it out. Thank you, thank you!

  8. I don't see Broken Spoke anywhere on your list. Or is two-stepping not your thing? Ah, chicken fried steak, then dancing the night away...

    1. Broken Spoke is another place that Martin wants to go but honestly I've only ever been there once, and I never learned to two step well. I know *how* to two step but it's slightly dreadful to watch...but no one needs to know that.

Chicken Fried Steak? Hmmm... maybe we'll just go out to The Oasis and get one of their famous chicken fried steaks and watch the sun set.
